Book Cover

Today's postcard

I'm feeling pretty pleased with the book cover I made today. Sometimes the easy things are the best.

When the grocery store bagger says "paper or plastic," say "paper, please," and come home come, cut it open and paint the inside with whatever color you have. When it's dry, crinkle it really good. You can give it a light color wash with a highlight color if you wish. When that's dry, bring out the Wonder Under and fuse the paper to a piece of inexpensive felt. At this point you can stitch over it like I did on my postcard if you want to.

Thanks to Momma Helen for the suggestion of using a spiral-bound notebook for a quick-to-make book. My $ store had a nice size, not quite letter size. Cut your "fabric" to make one long piece to cover your notebook, leaving 3" extra for each end and 1/8" extra for both top and bottom. Plus enough to cover the spiral.

Put glue on the outside covers of your notebook and cover it with your "fabric," leaving the 3" overhanging on each end.

Close your notebook, weight it down with some books, and go away and forget it for awhile.

A few hours later, come back and crease the fabric where it folds to the inside and glue it inside the covers.

Weight it down with the books again for several more hours.
Is that easy, or what?
