Helen, Sarah, and I went hiking at the Fort Wright
Nature Center and the Highland Cemetery Nature
Trails. By the time we were finished, we had hiked
for three hours.

Sarah declared that my old coffee maker didn't
make coffee worth drinking, so I didn't even move
it. We went shopping last night for a new one.
Rempke's carries Heine Brothers Coffee from
Louisville
and it was a nice morning to drink it on the
back porch.
While Steph got her hair done, Sarah, Nora,
Aaron and I went to First Watch for brunch

What a difference four years makes.
Four years ago today was Steph and Mike's wedding
day. I wish I had a digital picture to include here,
but I don't. It was a lovely ceremony, followed by a
nice dinner and reception. Some of you remember
that day.
Today, there was an outing to the Newport
Aquarium with two strollers
and dinner at Panera.

AARON'S STORY -
This is my mom.
She told me I'd be getting lots of company today.
Gran B came with Leah. Leah and Gran B used to
work together in Maysville years ago. They're
happy that they both live here now. Leah
brought me clothes and a toy.
I cried, but Leah said that was ok.
While they were here, the mailman brought a
package. It was clothes for me.
Then my mom's friend Bridget came. I call her
Bridgie. Nora says that Bridgie will let me have
cheese puffs and powdered sugar donuts when
I'm older.

Amazing - this is wet pavement And more wet pavement. It's been terribly dry -
I moved here August 3 and it's rained only twice
since then, and very little both times. This was
the 19th day this month with temperatures over
90. More rain is predicted for tomorrow.
Many empty seats at the Reds game - we can
hope it's because of the rain - but those who
came saw some fireworks.

Several years ago, Sarah got me this quilting table for my sewing machine for birthday or Christmas. I'm sure I hinted mightily for it, but I'd never used it because I could never find both top and legs at the same time except for occasionally when I wasn't quilting.
Now in my new studio I not only found both legs and top simultaneously but I have room to store it put together. It's just the thing for the quilt for Nora's room (remember the IKEA curtains) since I'm finishing the raw fused edges and quilting at the same time.
And, note the pegboard that I'm using for a design wall. I really love it because it was inexpensive and it's rigid enough that I can use clothespins at the top to hang quilts. One of these days I will run into a sale on white flannel and cover it.

Good hair
For me, an unsettling thing about moving is finding a good hair stylist, so I am really grateful that Steph pointed me toward a place where a couple of her friends go. I got a good cut and good color, just ten minutes from home. I expected to pay more than I paid at the little shop I went to in Berea, and I did, but not crazy more, and I feel really stylish.
On my way home, I stopped at the Artist Day Garden Party at Seventh Street Gifts in Newport. It's an annual afternoon event to celebrate the first days of autumn (how can this be - it's so hot that I'd totally forgotten that fall is here.) The street was blocked off and there were artist booths, plus drummers and other live music and belly dancing. It's a cool and casual shop, too, with the kinds of things I like. They have essential oils, incense, jewelry, pottery, and lots of items with fairies. I got a totally cool Dover coloring book, the Garden Fairy Alphabet, that offers lots of quilting inspiration.
Steph and Mike had neighbors over to watch the Bengals and I appreciated spending Sunday afternoon with that group. It was a good time, even though the Bengals were awful once again.
I put up my camera at Steph's because Nora quickly learned how to turn it on and off and scroll through the pictures. I forgot to bring it home, so the only picture today is one I took yesterday of sweet Aaron at two weeks old.
I laid him in his crib and Steph said it was his first time there. Usually he sleeps in his bassinet, which has music, mobile, and vibrating mattress. No wonder his sister finds electronic equipment quite normal and easy to understand.

What I saw when I was running an errand -
well, really I was walking, not running
I hope Ralph will soon be home.
