Moving On Down

Warm weather sewing in my dining room just wasn't a good idea for me.  Things always looked cluttered, and cluttered isn't good for my spirit.  And there wasn't an eating area, since my kitchen isn't big enough for that.

I would have said that there wasn't space in the spare bedroom for sewing, but I might have been wrong.  We'll see.  I like the idea that the bed can double as a design wall, something I was missing in the dining room.  There are outlets here in just the right place.  And I enjoy having a window in front of me, even if it's just looking at my neighbor's house.  I am hopeful.

Thanks for Joanne's recommendation, I am gobbling up every Nancy Thayer book I can find.  Light, beachy reads.  Nothing dark.

I missed my high school reunion last weekend and enjoyed seeing the picture.  Everyone looks so young, still.

Football-Related Onsies

Just finished embroidering these little onsies as a shower gift.  The baby's brother is a youth league football player with Aaron.

The purple placement marks should be gone by tomorrow.  These are three-month size, the perfect size to place on the hoop.  Newborn sizes are a bit finicky, so small that it's hard to get them to lay flat.  Even these, I "babysit" while they're embroidering.  So tiny that it's easy for a sleeve or neckline to flop over and get caught in the embroidery.

A bit cooler today.  No "feels like" over 100 on the weather app.  Last night it stared to unexpectedly pour just after Joey Votto hit a grand slam for the Reds.  The shower was brief, the game went on, the Reds won.

Little Dogs Camping

Not my picture, Sarah's.  Three grand dogs camping.  At Elkmont, in the Smokies.

This time of year, the synchronized fireflies put on their show and the campground is filled to capacity.  There was one cancellation, this campsite, one night.  Perfect for them.

I'm glad it wasn't this week, which is a hot week.  Humid.  Take your breath away hot and humid.  Not weather for little dogs.

If you're in the grocery check-out lane, take a look at the new Country Living.  There is the BEST picture of small RV camping on the cover.  Apparently it glows in the dark, but I haven't tried that yet.

Rose

One of the couples at church was celebrating their 50th anniversary and shared red and cream roses from their bouquets.  What a lovely gesture!

I just finished covering three outdoor porch cushions, two chairs, one love seat.  I'd procrastinated, remembering it as a bigger job than it was.  There is a lesson in there, and it's one that never sticks with me.

I'll be working on Friday and Saturday and I'm looking forward to that.  Every now and then it's nice to get dressed and out into the work world.  To smile at people and help them find what they need.

I've moved a sewing machine into the dining room for smaller projects that I can do where it's cool.  Along with a small combo cutting and ironing mat and a little iron.  In the summer, it's hot upstairs in my cape cod house.  My laptop has also come downstairs.

I'm hoping that this new summer set-up will inspire me to start on some baby quilts.  I have fabric and a plan.  I just need to sit down and sew.

Too Much Sun

I got way too much sun at the ball field this afternoon, even though I wasn't there all that long.  It's always been that way . . . for someone who doesn't really tan, I feel the affects.

The little guy close to the wagon is an Aaron look-alike.  Same color hair.  Same build.  Same height.  I always have to look twice.  Aaron is at the fence.

I meant to go on to Nora's game, but I let myself be talked out of it.  Things weren't going well at the tournament this afternoon and it was way out, distance wise.  And there would be more sun.

And so, I am back home. Wondering about dinner.  Suddenly hearing brief summer rain on the porch awning, I didn't expect that.

I could try on the new bathing suit that was delivered while I was out, but I won't yet.  I am happy for a new suit, but it's a necessary thing, not a joyful thing.  Now if it were new pajamas, I'd put them on and keep them on.
