Ten Fidy

All week I've longed for Packhouse quinoa "meatballs."  And tonight was the night.

Along with this Oscar Blues Ten Fidy beer.  A stout.  " Ten FIDY (10.5% ABV) is made with enormous amounts of two-row malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY is the ultimate celebration of dark malts and boundary-stretching beer."

10.5% ABV?  Oh, my.  And the meatballs were good, too.  And the Brussels Sprouts.

Your favorite meatballs intrigue me. Any ideas what they mix into the grains?
And then are they fried or baked? Cooked in a sauce?

My daughter is doing Eat To Live and in the three weeks of the 6 week Detox menu plan she has lost
15 pounds--all the belly fat (can now bend over to pull on socks and shoes) she couldn't get rid of. She has been doing CrossFit for over a year now and didn't lose even an ounce of weight so she is very happy to lose the 15.. Also, no sneezing, no eyes itching, no nose blowing. Sounds like a REAL food allergy. She isn't having dairy (big cheese eater) or wheat. Also, not that she ate much--no meat.

She is eating brown rice/ three servings a week. today she called to ask if I knew of a "purple" vegetable that would have been included in a roasted vegetable mixture. We decide maybe a purple yam. There isn't really a purple carrot. She bought a serving of the roasted veg at the grocery where she works on Saturday's to pay for gas money to drive to her M-F job.

Kid has gotten the short end of the stick in life. But she just keeps going--no complaining. Does own her own house (working hard), owns her car but is living alone (you know that can be hard) and the CrossFit is
filling up some of the alone time. Something social to stay sane.

Oddly enough, a Crossfit gal gave her the Eat To Live book for Christmas and a work co-worker gave her the same book this week. All Sam said was "well, I guess everyone thought I needed to lose weight"
good they were thinking of her--not good they were thinking that.

I was very sad to read about your phone calls to your Senators. One of my Senators is proud to say she has never (18 years) missed a vote. But she has No Spine--goes along. The other Senator King lives here in my Town and I see and talk to him often. He was our Governor and always came into the library with his children. Real people kind of guy. My suggestion--call your party's organization and see who needs your support in getting elected to something--someone who might be able to unseat one of these guys someday. Or work to pass term limits so they eventually have to retire.
